You know these things to be true:
- Prospective employers will Google your name
- Potential dates will Google you to learn more about you
- Anyone who wants to check up on you will search your name to see what they find
- Your reputation can be greatly affected by what people read about you on the internet
Until now, we’ve either (a) assumed controlling the search results when someone searched our name was beyond our control, or (b) the task of controlling out identify, our “brand’, on the web would be an overwhelming task.
Businesses have been managing their online presence for over a decade now, and there’s no reason the same things that work for controlling a business’ identify, brand and image won’t work for you and your career too.
For a list of the top ten activities you can do to begin to manage your online presence, check out my blog post.
